The leak reinforced concerns many critics have raised about the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

We discussed this very possibility in our IB class a week ago. Can we estimate the value of the damage done to the ecosystem? How does this effect nutirent cycling? Water purity? Bioaccumulation of heacy metals/toxins from the oil? How should/does this event effect the process of using the precautionary principle in the Keystone pipeline application?
